Jake began his practice in Columbia, Missouri, in the year 2000, by representing injured workers and victims of medical malpractice. The following year, Jake returned to his home town of Kansas City and continued to represent injured workers, while also incorporating construction and real estate law into his practice.
After practicing with a firm located on the Country Club Plaza, where he defended contractors in multi-million dollar construction litigation claims, Jake joined Troppito Miller Griffin, LLC in August of 2015.
Since joining TMG, Jake has focused his representation on construction litigation, personal injury, and workers compensation claims. Jake has obtained a dismissal in a high-profile, multi-million dollar claim, and has successfully litigated or settled many others.
Jake received his Bachelor’s degree from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri in 1997 with a degree in Political Science. Rather than enter into politics, Jake elected to attend law school at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he earned his JD in 2000.
In 2011, Jake graduated from the Bar Leadership Academy, where he successfully completed the KCMBA leadership training program. Additionally, Jake passionately supports the local start-up community works with many local entrepreneurs. He is also a fixture at the local start-up presentations, lending his advice to many would-be business owners.
Jake routinely speaks at continuing legal education seminars on landlord-tenant issues, as well as commercial litigation and construction law. Jake also serves as leadership for the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, where he is the Chair of the Commercial Litigation Committee. He is also the current President of the Jackson County Law Library, where he has served for a number of years.
Jake is currently licensed to practice in Missouri and Kansas, in both State and Federal Court.
